Rowan Quinn is currently a PhD student at Queen Margaret University. His research explores how queer characters on British Stage and Screen are costumed. He progressed to PhD from BA(Hons) Costume Design and Construction, where his dissertation focused on the same topic. Through collaborative film production, he is employing a queer methodology to deconstruct the barriers between media communication departments to understand the overlap between them. Rowan has a history as a costume designer and wardrobe assistant in industry, working on several small-scale productions across the central belt. He has been particularly drawn to queer led, or local community focused companies who have inspired some of his own experimental approaches in his research.
